New Year, New You. The Habakkuk Challenge. [CYCLE BREAKERS]

Updated: Oct 30

Habakkuk 2:2

As we embrace another year we yet again see the thousands of people who proclaim what is now thought to be a meaningless cliché: “New Year, New Me”.

In all honesty, this is a beautiful proclamation–one of faith, one of boldness, one of hope and inspiration, so what happened and why is it almost laughable to say now?

Often this ‘new you’ who’s supposed to come forth is lost in the sauce after the initial month (and excitement) of the new year has passed.  I believe the answer to why and the key to overcoming this can be found so simply written in Habakkuk 2:2.

When you study, it’s been proven that you remember and retain more when you write the material down yourself.  When you take a goal-setting class you’re heavily encouraged and advised to do so specifically and attainably. Why is this?

This is because there is something so special, purposeful, and intentional about writing what you want to see accomplished. It adds another beautiful level of clarity, motivation, and accountability that’s needed for any dream, goal, or self-transformation to come to fruition.

Writing out what you want requires you to go deeper in your thought process in order to clearly and understandably express yourself on paper.  This takes you deeper than mere desire or a dream–it takes you into the realm of specifics, into the realm of vision and goal-setting.

So, I’m issuing a challenge.

What is it that you want to accomplish most?  For your year, for your life?  Who do you want to become?

What trends or past personal bests do you want to transcend?

For the month of January, let's write the vision and make it plain with the Habakkuk journal challenge.

Every day for the month of January, join us as we journal daily about our vision for our lives, our dreams, and our goals.  Each day write about what you want to do, who you want to become, how you want your life to change, and what you are doing/going to do each day to bring that vision closer to reality.

What is your vision for the New Year?
