Why Christians should highly consider biblically-grounded Christian therapists, life coaches, and other relevant service providers, for their treatment and services.

Updated: May 14

I remember how much money and time I spent trying to find someone that wouldn’t try to talk me out of my faith while they ‘treated’ me.

There isn’t anything inherently wrong with providers like therapists, doctors, etc. who aren’t Christian. However, there were many times I felt looked down on for my beliefs or felt like someone wanted to save me from them. I didn’t like feeling more focused on ‘protecting’ my faith during treatment instead of being more focused on enjoying and benefitting from the treatment itself. I also came to realize I yearned for help understanding and harnessing the power and tenets of my faith in combination with treatment to help me see the change and transformation I was looking for in my life and within myself.

I was so tired and burnt out from feeling stuck, broken, like a lost cause, and like God either had an ought with me or there was just something I couldn’t seem to understand about what I needed or needed to do.

I was hungry to be exposed to someone in a clinical environment who understood where I was coming from spiritually and had the professional expertise, experience, and understanding of how to masterfully integrate these together in ways that would help me move forward.

At the end of the day I had to go at it the harder way for so many different reasons. Ultimately, as I continued training as a therapist and became doubly certified as a life coach, it was the Lord who continued to minister to me about how to integrate all this information into a faith based and biblical framework that began to produce a remaining change in my everyday quality of life.

I remember telling the Lord: if you give me the chance, I’m gonna start something where you can use me to help others just like you helped me.

That’s just what He did—and that’s just what I did. Now career-ministry has grown over the years (*cue happy dance from a first generation entrepreneur who knew absolutely nothing about starting a business but decided to trust God, learn as much as I could, and go at it anyway*) and is still standing! Now, I help believers manifest God’s “life more abundantly” promise in their own lives through 1:1 services and digital products like my ebooks and faith-based affirmations cheatsheets. And I finally came across more providers for myself and my own journey (everybody needs somebody!).

As a Christian who struggled with debilitating mental illness and the impact of ongoing trauma, I never imagined a better quality of life after a failed suicide attempt and two hospitalizations. Now, I thank God I’m among the number of those supporting others in learning how to work through and beyond their current challenges. You can learn more about my practice here. If you or someone you know has been on the hunt for a Christian provider or support from a faith-based framework, you can quickly submit a referral through our website as well.

Let’s stick together and make this world a better place by promoting learning, healing, empowerment, and compassion.

There’s something so powerful about allowing God to transform you and then use you to lift up the heads and hands of others. If you are a believer, consider praying and specifically looking for another believer as your treatment provider; it may just be exactly what’s been missing for you to make leaps and bounds in your journey with the Lord’s help.

With love,

Marie MFT
